Even with short notice, the WWR can put together an awesome Welcome Home for our heros. We had 12 bikes and 5 cages. It was a beautiful night for a ride and a Welcome Home for our hero. Mike is home for some R&R before going off for some more training. His family and himself were in awe at what we do. Thank you to the family of Mike for inviting us to be a part of the celebration and especially thank you to Mike for volunteering to protect our freedom.

Thursday, September 3, 2009, was a great day for the town of Easton, PA! They welcomed home fifty-plus Heroes; Members of the 56th Stryker Brigade B Troop, 2/104th CAV.
This was an extremely short-notice mission…we knew they would be coming, but the exact time and details did not get to me until that very morning. I scrambled to get the word out by email, and hit the highway, hoping that someone else would be there to meet them, at the Allentown Exit, PA turnpike Northeast Extension. Their arrival time was to be 5:30 at their armory in Easton…about twenty-five miles from the Allentown exit, but not knowing for sure what their route would be to the armory (there were some discrepancies), I was at the exit, flags unfurled, at 3:30 PM.
Very shortly, I was joined by about a dozen other riders, from various groups…Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club, American Legion Riders, Lehigh Vally HOG chapter, among others. As we sat in waiting, a PA State Trooper stopped by to join us. He informed us of a very unfortunate incident! A major accident, with fatalities, on the southbound side of the turnpike! Our Heroes were coming up the northbound side, but the traffic snafu would be a possible delay. All southbound traffic was being directed to make a u-turn, right in front of us, blocking the exit ramps from both south and northbound.
But, approximately 5:30 PM, we spotted two busses in the traffic, backed up to come through the toll booths. Soon, two riders came around the busses (members of ‘Nam Knights MC), and they did an excellent job of clearing traffic to allow the busses to access the shoulder, beyond the toll booths.
Because of the traffic snafu, a route was chosen to the armory which left other riders, waiting to join along the way, out of the route. They headed straight for the armory, and met two busloads of Heroes, and a dozen bikes there.
As we approached the armory, it was so obvious that tjhis town loved their Heroes! Every house was decorated, people were on their porches and lawns cheering and waving flags, anf the local high school band was playing at the armory! The throngs of family and friends was at the least, totally impressive!
A reception was held at the armory, we mugged, hugged, and coined a couple of Heroes who weren’t surrounded by family, and our mission was completed.
Welcome Home, Heroes!
Respectfully Submitted,
Al “Bluesman” Philo

We met at the Quik-stop,Sun was beating down on us. Cpl. McDaniel and his uncle(jim) were on the road from Pendleton since 1030 hrs..As we waited, one of the local FD engines saw us and pulled in.They were wondering if we had someone coming home. I told them the intel,so they waited with us.About 15 mins. later Jim pulled his pickup into the stop.Cpl. McDaniel got out and we gave him alot of hugs and well wishes. He was totally surprised that we were there for him. So,we put 2 flag bikes up front and 2 flag bikes behind him and headed to the house.
His home is about 5 blocks from my house. We got there and were met by Family, neighbors and friends. His buddies Mom (Cecilia) was there also.we brought him home last November. his Aunt (martha) ushered all of us into the house to get water. And found she had a spresd fit for a Platoon. Thanks Martha.we sat and talked to the Marine for a bit, He is on Terminal leave,so he had lots of questions about the VA.We gave him contacts and intel about local VFW & Legion Posts. Welcome home Mike.

We had just left the 3 Marines Welcome Home at 1500 hrs. We jetted across town,so we could grab some chow. Joann called me and said she would leave the house at 1630 Hrs.Her other son Cpl. Aaron Mcrea will be deploying mid Sept. So,the familywas headed over to a park to take some photos, for the scrapbook. Now,Travis & Aaron were in uniform for this. And at the park little did they know the house was being invaded by Bryan ( Lafayette Flag Brigade) and Sherry(aka Snapshot) and others. They tore down their equipment and banners from the 3 Marine and re-setup at the Mcrae’s home.So at 1725 Hrs. we headed over to the park with 13 bikes and a Flag Truck (diane).we pulled in and parked Aaron knew what was happening, but not Travis. We brought Aaron home last year,so he knows the flag bikes. We met the Marines and hugged them and chatted.Mom could not stop smiling, well I had to stall for 15 mins.
before we left,so they could finish the house. Then Snapshot called and gave me the green light,we gathered up everybody and headed out.We got to the house where PD had their lights on and we had approx 50+ folks there. Also joining was a special friend Brig. General Dan Helix who shared some wisdom of why we are there.Turned out to be a great night,Mom (joann) sang for us,The Marines were given coins, letters, and tons of hugs. Thanks to Trevor(our official WWR Chaplain) great pre-ride prayers. All the groups LFB , PMF , VFW,AL,ALR,PGR.and WWR you rock my friends

On Wednesday 26 Aug 2009 at 7:00 PM the Illinois National Guard 333rd MP Co. returned from Afghanistan to a Welcome Home Ceremony in Freeport IL. After the Ceremony I escorted 4 of the MP?S to Sycamore IL. Including, Spec. Candace Mallin. It was at the end of the escort that Liz Mallin (Mom) asked if we could do a Drive By on Friday at a party in honor of Spec. Candace Mallin. Of course the N. IL Warriors Watch stepped up and did the right thing. With less the 2 days to get this Mission planned and then posted on the forum it was quick work. The Rain that had plagued the area for the past 3 days finally dissipated just in time for this mission. We staged approximately a mile
from the Soldiers Home and when I arrived, the only WWR member that was there was in a cage. The Skies were grey and it didn?t look good for the weather. Slowly other WWR Members started to arrive till we reached a total of 7 Motorcycles and 4 Cages. As we started the ride brief the clouds went away and the sun came out, making it another perfect day for a mission. We pulled out of the staging area at approximately 6:30 PM and headed to the house. As we
pulled onto their street we could see that Liz had gathered the entire party in the front yard awaiting our arrival. Spec Mallin saw us coming and walked out to the street with a smile on her face. We all took our turns thanking her and welcoming her home with a hug or a handshake. I had discovered that her birthday was coming up in 8 days so I presented her with a birthday present from the WWR. A Guardian Angel Bell to put on the Harley she is intent on buying. She was grateful and a little overwhelmed by all the attention. After taking some Photos and wishing her and her family well, one by one we began to take our leave and ride away, till the next soldier comes home.

On August 30th, 2009 we staged at a local school about two miles from Austin’s house and watched as McHenry county police and Wonder Lake fire department joined us. The police and fire were asked to ROCK my neighborhood of Wonder Lake and they did! After almost a week of rain the sun was shining and it was in the mid 60’s, perfect leather weather! We rode through two different subdivisions and roared in honor of my son Marine L/Cpl Austin Otto and in memory and honor of Jon D. There had to be sixty bikes or more and several cages along with the LEO and fire support.
My son was in awe and my neighbors and friends got to see what we are ALL about! We did a short ceremony and then we escorted him and Yvette to McHenry. My son was on the back of my bike and Yvette on another as we left Wonder Lake with our escort. We were headed to do a tribute to our Great friend and family member Jon D. and host a party for Yvette.
I don’t believe there is any greater honor than for a son or daughter to follow in a parent’s footsteps and be a Marine or service member. To watch my fellow brothers and sisters of the WWR hug him and thank him made my day if not my year! My son was honored from the greatest Patriots I know and I thank you ALL… This will be one of the best memories my son and I will share forever. HOORAH!!! Thank you fellow Patriots and WWR members for all you do!!! One of your own, Ottoman.

This Welcome Home for Spc Eric Sprague had a few twists n turns in it concerning times and such.
First it was 0800 hrs at Ft Dix New Jersey. Then, 1000hrs on the fly from New jersey to Penna. Then, it was 1100 hrs in Penna. then, 1130hrs. One thing for sure is WWR was Escorting this soldier home. That we did. We were all rallied in a shopping center parking lot waiting for Eric, as his wife was picking him up and taking him to us. For a Tuesday morning/afternoon it was a beautiful day with great showing of support. 15-20? I didn’t count. At 2100hrs we got notification that they were close from Erics sister in-law Jen, who was with us the whole time. Erics’ sister is an EMT with the Haverford Fire Dept. They picked up Eric along with Haverford Police Dept a mile down the road and escorted him to us. We heard the sirens and quickly formed a two row flagline for them to drive through. That they did. Eric got out of the van and was Welcomed Home by family that were there,,then we got to him with our MUG & HUG. I asked Haverford PD if they were escorting us to the house. The officer said no, as they were already out of their district. He made a call and the next thing I know is they are gonna escort us. NICE.
We set off with Sirens, Lights, Horns. PD1st, EMT vehicles, flagged bikes, Our Warriors Van, more bikes, cages. As traffic pulled over to let us pass, we saw many with thumbs up and lights blinking.
We arrived at the Spragues’ residence. The street was decorated for this occasion. Also, Erics wish was to see a bike in front of his house when he got home. That is exactly what was in front of his house. Shiney chrome ready to ride. We Mugged & Hugged Eric one more time. I presented Eric with our Magic Coin and informational folder of what our coins meaning is. A group pic and off we went. Ya gotta love twists & turns in a Welcome Home.
Welcome Home Spc Eric Sprague. Enjoy your family and New Ride.
Thank You Haverford PD, Haverford Fire Dept EMTs for our Safe Escort.

A Great Day for our GREAT HEROES ! I have to say as my first mission down here I couldn’t ask for anything more. The support I got from all of the MC’s and our WWR Family was INCREDIBLE.
The day started a little overcast as the SEPA crew and I (10 bikes and 2 cages) mounted the bikes and headed for the rally point. It took us only a few minutes to go the mile or so to the Best Buy parking lot. As we pulled in I realized how amazing this mission was going to be. The Combat Vets MC and Blue Knights MC were sitting in the parking lot ready to honor our WWII vets. Due to the flight being pushed back a half hour we had time to sit in the parking lot and meet tons of new friends from the MC’s. As we sat and got to know everyone, the Nam Knights and a few riders from the Green Knights rode in 8 bikes deep. The turnout was amazing. In all we had 4 MC’s and the WWR totaling 65 bikes and 4 cages. It was more then I could have ever asked for.
The RC’s, Presidents and I then huddled up for a meet and greet. We introduced ourselves and then I briefed them on the mission route and plan. It was truly an honor to meet them all. They are all great patriots and ready to serve and ride when missions come down. As the huddle dispersed and they briefed each of their MC’s, I noticed two patrol cars parked in the parking lot. I had asked local LEO for support but was turned down a few times. I walked over to the Officers and asked them if they were there to support us and they replied they were not but would love to help. The Officer quickly got on his radio and got the ok from his unit to do our escort. Sadly they could only escort us a few blocks to the airport exit, but it was a great help! Thank you Alexandria PD for your last minute support !
As time neared our KSU, I gathered everyone together for one last mission brief and prayer. That you Bill “Preacher” Collete VP/Chaplain of the Nam Knights for stepping up and saying a prayer for our safety on this ride. After our words of wisdom, we made our way back to our bikes and mounted up. WWR spearheading the mission took point followed by the Combat Vets, Nam Knights, Blue Knights, Green Knights and cages pulling tail gun. It was an amazing site to see all of these riders and MC’s coming together for our Heroes.
Flags flying and LEO escort for a few blocks, we made our way to the National Airport. As we pulled in front of the terminal with engines revving, people were shocked and didn’t really know what to think since they haven’t seen anything like this in the area. We parked the bikes (which took up most of the loading area) and headed inside to greet our Vets.
It was the normal hurry up and wait once inside which gave us time to set up a great flag/welcome line. We waited and waited until finally I got word that the first vet was on his way down. The cheers and claps started and lasted about 45 minutes as all our vets made their way to their busses. The look these vets had in their eyes was one ill never forget. They had no idea that we would be there to thank them and Honor them. They were so happy to see us and grateful to know that we do care ! As the last vet made it out of the elevator, we shook her hand and thanked here for what she did for our country, then headed out to mount up.
Outside and back on the bikes it was another hurry up and wait while they loaded the finally Heroes onto the busses. Once all 120 were seated and ready to roll, we headed out of the airport and onto George Washington Parkway. Lead by a airport policeman, we made our way to the WWII Memorial. It was only about a 10 minute ride to the Memorial, but it was the best 10 minute ride of my life. We made our way into DC and down 17th street and pulled into the bus lot in front of the Memorial. 65 bikes 5 busses and 4 cages didn’t fit very well at first. The park ranger then directed us to our parking and we lined up the bikes. After parking, I gave a quick thank you for the support each one of these MC’s gave and what a great job they did on the escort. After handshakes and a round of applause, we quickly made our way to the Memorial to meet our Heroes and Welcome them to their Memorial.
We stayed and talked with our vets for an hour or so. While walking around and talking to our heroes, we were told that a WWII vet that is pretty well known was there with us today. Senator Bob Dole was taking pictures and greeting all of his fellow Heroes. His wife told us he tries to make it down every Saturday when these WWII vets come in. He is a great Patriot and WWII Hero. The WWR family went and thanked Senator Dole for what he has and continues to do for our Great Nation. Rambone coined Senator Dole as a token of our appreciation. Thank You Senator for all you do!
Soon after meeting and thanking the Senator, we had a parking issue and were told the bikes needed to be moved. We then made our way to the bikes and headed out to find new parking. Everyone was scattered but we met back at the Memorial for one last thank you. The SEPA WWR crew and myself huddle up, gave hugs and took a group picture. Soon after that I was on my way back to VA and they headed back to SEPA. Thank you all for coming down and supporting us down here VA/DC. It was a great showing of patriotism and appreciation for our Heroes!
In part, the mission was a GREAT SUCCESS! Tons of bikes for tons of WWII VETS! Everything went so smooth and we had a great Honor escort. Thank you everyone for your participation in this mission, as I said before I could not have asked for more!
Thank you to the Combat Vets MC, Nam Knights MC, Blue Knights MC and Green Knights MC for your support in this mission. You all did an outstanding job. Looking forward to working with you all in the future as we show VA/DC who our true HEROES are and what America is missing.
