Still too chilly to bring out the bikes, about 20 cages gathered in northwest Gurnee, Illinois to welcome home Marine Sergeant Nicholas Render.

Sgt Render had just returned from a deployment aboard the USS Wasp where he was playing a key role in attacks against ISIS and the war against terror.

Joining us at our staging location were LEO and FD from Gurnee and Grayslake, Illinois.

We got advance notice that there would be plenty of heroes on hand, including SSG Joel Davis (Iraqi Freedom), SGT Doug Gialds (Africa, Afghanistan), SGT David Dougan (Japan), SGT Mike Nicolet (Vietnam).

Making as much noise as possible on the way there, we were greeted in front of our hero’s home by a large cheering crowd.  With presentations made, hugs all around and pictures taken, we were off in the night.

It was good to be reminded.  This is who we are, this is what we do.  Click HERE to see a few of the pictures from that night.
