Ride Report posted for Spike
Turned out to be a nice day,Sun was out,had a little breeze going. We staged at
one of our local gas stations. The bikes rolled in little by little,we had time to chat
and socialize. The Marines were across the street at a local eatery, for lunch. About
15 mins. prior to us leaving i got the call the Marines were almost done with lunch.
There was a Fire engine already there,so we rolled over to the parking lot at the
restaurant. As we shut down, they came walking out.We set-up the Flag bikes,
4 up front and 5 behind them, then the rest of the bikes. There was a Convertable
Mustang there for the Marines to ride in.Well ,we had a few minuts to mug & Hug
those Marines before we headed out.I had the fire engine lead the way, with 4
tailgunners taking out intersections.Total we had 27 bikes,1 Fire Engine,2 cages,
1 Fire Blazer( Battalion Chief). We took the long way thru downtown,Lights blazing,
Horns blaring,V-Twins roaring.Downtown has alot of outside seating for eating,so
we had to make alot of noise. The Marines sitting atop the back seat of the mustang.
As we rolled down the streets, people stopped and cheered as we went by.I could
see the Marines waving back. When we got onto their street, there had to be 150+
folks waiting,Cheerleaders from a local school,Bagpipes playing,Flags waving.
The Marines were ushered up to the Big Flag, and they were greeted and presented
many coins,plaques,letters.From VFW , American Legion,Congressman Mcnerny,
City represantation Jerry Thorne.PMF,Op SAM,Boy Scouts,Girl Scouts.What a great
Welcome Home,Now we had done hundreds here, but this was the first for 3 Marines
