Ride Report posted for Cheryl & Steve Riley
After a year in Afganistan, several days at Ft McCoy in Wisconsin, a bus ride of several hours and then the long drive home, the cold rain and temps in the suddenly 60’s in Mundelein Illinois, had to be somewhat refreshing to Spc Adam Krause.
Spc Krause was part of the largest deployment in Illinois in 2008 since WWII and then part of a multi unit return in Illinois on June 1st 2009. With several units and many individual escorts scheduled, we the WWR were spread a little thin. But we made a showing that I don’t think Adam will forget very soon.
Once again the town of Mundelein came out to show their pride and support of our military personnel. Even tho the rain was unpredictable the Police Dept not only had several cars but also brought out the bike. We were told the officer was here on his own time, in the rain, to show his support and lead the way to the Krause family home. And not to be left out is the Fire Dept who also supplied several vehicles for lots of lights and sounds!
Adam’s parents were not the only ones happy to have him home, so were his 2 brothers and sister. Adam will be enjoying a well deserved rest before “returning to work”.’
