This morning members of Warriors Watch Capitol Region escorted Captain Owen Thorpe, USN, on his final ride home to the United States Naval Academy. Captain Thorp was a long time professor at the Academy and well respected by both officers and enlisted men. Attending ride were S.C. Pat (Doc) Nadeau, Member Charlie Smith, and Member Tony (Grizz) Balta. Also in attendance were newcomers Rhonda Wheatley, Craig Meinhardt, and John Butcher. This mission marks the first for the newly re-organized Warriors Watch Capital Region.

Obituary
CAPT Owen Godfrey Thorp, III of Arnold, MD, died peacefully at his home on Sunday, October 29, 2017. Owen was the beloved husband of Kathleen “Kathy” Thorp; father of Major Regina Thorp (USA), Andrew, Lauren and LTJG Matthew Thorp (USN); grandfather of Madeline and Michael; son of the late Alyce and Owen Thorp, Jr; brother of Amanda Strigl and Gary Thorp. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Owen’s life on Sunday, November 5 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, November 6 at 12 PM at the United States Naval Academy Chapel. Interment will follow at the United States Naval Academy Cemetery.
