Ride Report for Ride Captain Frank AKA Ghost Riders
Todays mission turned out very well. The weather was in our favor as we gathered members from the WWR, OWYH. Our young man returning was greeted with a great amount of good will feelings and lots of cheers and hugs. The parents and grandparents were pleasantly surprised by our attendance and enjoyed the special attention we gave to Spc Otto Blanco. There was a new group, the Church of God Certified Emergency Response Team that came in and joined in on the mission.
The CPD/ORD was very helpful in making our mission a success and allowing safe passage from the airport to his house. Many thanks goes out to them today.
Before starting , the route was altered. With everyone’s acceptance, we started off.  Leaving the airport area there were many vehicles to deal with, but not a problem as we proceeded down the highway.
As we came closer to our destination, there could be heard cheers and hand waving and a great turnout of the CPD and Firemen who had raised a ladder and attached an American flag to it’s highest point. Spc Otto Blanco was greeted with a big, warm and heartfelt welcome. There were some small speeches made and afterwards Spc Otto Blanco was given the WWR’s coin and presented the mission beads with it’s meaning. The coin and beads were also presented to his Grandfather, Tomas Lozada who is a Purple Heart recipient from the Korean War.  He received his Purple Heart in a ceremony in Washington DC that took over 50 years to be awarded.
This was a good day…
