Now this was an awesome day,got warm/hot real quick, 102 degrees at one point
on the road.Well, we staged at our 1st. Area to gather up the northern troops and mom (donna) and kester’s girfriend ( leslie).We headed south with 12 bikes,and mem in her
jeep.Mom was wearing her traditional Kilt.We got to the 2nd staging area,had about an hour to kill. 3 more bikes showed up to make the count 15.i made the call to the airport
and confirmed our departure and parking,all was good.In fact it was fantastic,the airport
treated us with the such respect.We parked outside Terminal “A” and headed upstairs
to the gate area.Donna had her Bagpipes with her.Approx. 20 mins. later we heard a
shriek from Leslie as she ran over to Kester and jumped in his arms.Donna playing the pipes,passengers waiting to see,clapping,cheers,tons of hugs.We also had 2 other
soldiers come off the same flight,which we gave hugs to as well.
So,we grabbed up kester and headed out.Now San Jose Airport is going thru some
very heavy upgrades,construction has been going on for awhile now.Well, the airport
Operations officer ” Casem Purnio” a very earned ” Bravo Zulu” to you sir. For helping
us park and get out.We got out on the freeway 4 Flag bikes up front,Kester in the
middle and 8 bikes behind them,3 tailgunners, Craig ,Paul, Ralph&melody. You 3
did an outstanding job.The 45 min ride was perfect.We got to the house where we
were met by approx 30-40 friend,family,community. FD,SAMS,VFW,AL,ALR,PGR
mayors office,congressman’s office(vince).One Hell of a Day.Welcome Home Kester.
Its an Honor to ride for you Little brother & call you my friend.To the riders.it makes
my heart swell with pride to ride with you and to know that you all have the same
feelings in your devotion to our troops as I do.Big Al thanks for the new WWR sign.
