The following was received at WWR national this morning. I thought it appropriate to post here, as an addendum to the story that follows:

Wayne –

I read your website post about our event last Sunday in Frankford. I know there was a long list of organizations involved, so it’s hard to keep track, but it would be great if you could give a shout out to Rebuilding Together Philadelphia (RTP). HGTV supported us financially on this project, and their TV special will be aired on November 11, 2009. It is called “Changed the World: American Heroes”. This show will also feature a similar project in St. Louis. Rebuilding Together Philadelphia scouted locations last fall until we found this one, organized our supporters to vote every day during HGTV’s online voting contest, planned the work scope and recruited and organized the volunteers that have been working at the home since March 2009. Although this project was far beyond our normal work scope, the opportunity to work with HGTV was a chance to further our mission and awareness of RTP in the Philadelphia area. We would love to be introduced to your audience, and loved having Warriors’ Watch and A Hero’s Welcome at our event. What an amazing day!

Just to give a brief summary of RTP:

Rebuilding Together Philadelphia (RTP) is a local, independent affiliate of a national network focused on preserving affordable homeownership using volunteer resources. RTP concentrates its work in North and West Philadelphia as well as Montgomery County. Through warm-safe-dry essential home repair, energy efficiency, and home modification projects, RTP has helped over 870 low-income homeowners and 40 community-based organizations since its founding in 1988. For details, visit www.rebuildingphilly.org.

Wayne, we are fortunate to have the opportunity to work with veteran homeowners throughout the year (we also apply for funding each year through the Sears Heroes at Home program). I have added you to our mailing list, and hope to have the chance to partner with your group again in the future.
