Ride Report posted for Rick “Ricklynn”

3PM on a beautiful day we met up at the Walgreen’s parking lot in Hanover Park. I was very nervous this being my first mission as a ride captain but I got over it when I looked into these eyes of all the people I call my family. We were here to welcome home Spec. Sgt. Brian Luethy who served two turs in Iraq and Afganistan in 2005 and 2007, in 2008 he lost his mother.

He had no idea we were about to wake the neighborhood.

He was held hostage at a friend’s house so we could make a sneak attack, led by the H.P. police department we came in from the rear horns blaring engines reving, people playing in the park ran with cameras to see what was going on, other people gave us the thumbs up and waved and then there were those who just stared.

As we approched the house we saw the soldier standing outside with a look of amazement on his face I don’t think he had a clue yet. We pulled into the parking lot of a business and parked, I heard someone playing Welcome Home Soldier on their bike.

The soldier, his friends and his children then crossed the street and with many hugs and welcome homes, he said ” I am very humbled by all of this.” We thanked him for his service presented him with a coin and some beads, had him sign our banner and just chatted with him for awhile. The smile on his face was priceless.

Then as fast as we blew in we were gone.

I just want to thank everyone who showed up and those of you that were there in spirit. I couldn’t ask for a better family.

WELCOME HOME BRIAN AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE.’
