The honor we all feel in welcoming our brave soldiers home is immeasurable and again tonight, we were able to express our tremendous admiration, respect, and gratitude to two returning heroes.

On this stormy June evening, the tumultuous weather took a respite to show its respect to these two fine men and their families.  Five bikes, two cages and six of Cherry Hill’s finest from the PD met these two men as they exited the Olive Garden restaurant.

We greeted these two with a thunderous round of applause, hand-shakes, and hugs.  Both men were truly surprised at such a greeting.  Sgt Marc Louden & Master Sgt Sean Chapman, fresh from their Iraqi tours were humbled.  Little did they know what was coming next.

Cherry Hill PD led us through the night traffic and over to Evesham where a local officer was awaiting to complete the escort.  Rather than returning home, our Cherry Hill escort maintained on the mission!   WOW.  Seven police cruisers, a couple cages and the motorcycles all escorting our hero’s home with horns and sirens blasting.  Truly an escort befitting heroes!

Then.  The destination is near.  A lump in the throat and a tear in the eye at the sight of that first Yellow Ribbon.  We know we’re close.  Horns get louder.  Sirens and heartbeats get faster.  The final turn and there it is.  My God, this represents the greatness of our country.  Ol Glory being flown by the Evesham fire department surrounded by friends, neighbors and fellow patriots.  We are all proud Americans and what better way to show our patriotism than to support those who go up to the front lines of battle to protect our way of life.

Coins were presented. Hugs and handshakes were abundant and speeches were made.  Ultimately it all comes down to these words that we feel and say to Sgt Marc Louden, Master Sgt Sean Chapman and all others, military and family alike;

“Thank you, may God bless you, and GOD BLESS AMERICA”
