Ride Report posted for Lisa Moran

This was our second mission of the day! As soon as we left the Sycamore Armory we had to high tail it to the Des Plaines Oasis, as Sgt. Jonak was one of the soldiers that returned to the Armory.

He has no idea that we would be waiting for him at the Oasis. But the surprise was on us instead….minutes after we pulled into the Oasis, so did the Jonak family. We were not prepared as they pulled up to us, but that is okay!

Other family members were waiting at the Oasis as well.

We may not have been in a flag line and ready, but the escort to John’s place of employment sure made up for that.

After presenting John with an honor coin and thanking him again, we also gave a set of honor beads to each member of his family, even his adorable 2 year old daughter!

Off we were to take John to a surprise destination. Thank you to one of our own members, John jumped on the back of her trike for the ride!

John is an asst’ principal at a middle school. When we pulled up to the school, the scene was incredible. 1000 students standing outside with the teachers etc..they were holding signs they made and cheering for Sgt. Jonak.

It was such a nice sight to see, what an impact Sgt. Jonak has made on these childrens lives! You can tell they loved him by the way they were cheering for him. It was nice for the kids to see how we honor our soldiers and veterans.

John said he loved the ride on the trike, and wants to get a bike now.

Thank you Sgt. Jonak for your service, and your sacrifices though thank you just doesn’t seem enough for all you have done for us. It was an honor to escort you to the school and an honor to meet your family.
