Ride Report for Ride Captain Silverhawk

We were invited by the Vietnam Veterans of America Tri-state Chap. 623 to participate in the Memorial Day Parade in Milford, PA.
Several NEPA and E NY members along with a few American Legion Riders rode lined up by the park in Milford and rode the parade route lined with people.  It was a beautiful day and the organizers said it was the best turnout ever.

At the conclusion of the parade, there was a brief ceremony honoring our fallen heroes.  The keynote speaker was Marine Corps’ Col. Stephen P. Corcoran.
Col. Corcoran’s speech was quite inspiring and here are portions of it as posted in the Pike County Disptach:

“The American military owes its past, present and future success to two critical and fundamental principles, the support of the American public and the service and sacrifice of all those who have gone before us.
“Through history, the wars, conflicts, tactics, and technology have changed, but the dedication and sacrifice of U.S. service members have not.
“Each success brought about by the military is attributable to all those who have come before, especially those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. They laid a foundation of uncompromising dedication.”
Corcoran said that such sacrifices and dedication are daily woven into our lives, helped define our national identity, and touched our lives, whether we have served in conflict or not.
After the ceremonies downtown, we took a short ride to Milford Beach on the Delaware River, where the Veterans’ groups and military representatives assembled for a wreath laying ceremony.  A memorial wreath was gently laid upon the river.
The Colonel, Vietnam Vet Peter Kozak and Marine Cpl. Geoffrey Collette were coined.
I can think of no better way to spend Memorial Day!
