Ride Report for Ride Captain Dirty Dog

Warriors Watch Riders were invited to do a “Mug N Hug” by Lou (Hombre) Fettig (President of the Belleau Wood Chapter of the Leathernecks MC) for his son-in-law SP/4 Jens Vadelund on Saturday, October 22nd.

Jens was greeted, hugged, thanked, and coined by Warriors Watch Riders at the American Legion in Hokendauqua.  Jens had been deployed to Afghanistan with the 131st. Transportation Co.  The 131st. “Roadrunners” were hit hard by an IED attack on July 18th.  Three members were killed, five were injured.  Jens is the recipient of a Purple Heart for wounds he sustained in this attack.  While wounded, Jens held and comforted SGT Ed Koehler, a fellow hero that was fatally wounded.

We met in Northampton and made the short ride to Hokendauqua.  Lou had arranged for Jens to be “detained” by a local police officer.  When he was able to depart (having been “rescued” by Leathernecks riders, he arrived to a surprise party in his honor.  A huge American flag suspended from a fire truck marked the start through a flagline leading down to the grove.  It was truly a joy to welcome home this hero and to thank him for his service and his family for their perserverance during his absence from them
