Ride Report for Ride Captain Weideman13 Ed Weideman

The October snow storm the day before did not deter us or the family of SSGT Joe Schmidt from bringing the bikes and cages outto welcome him home. SSGT Schmidt’s Father, Brother In-Law and Cousin rode their bikes and joined the Warriors Watch Riders in the escort from the airport to South Philadelphia. While at the gate waiting for our Hero, Mr. and Mrs Schmidt noticed another husband and wife waiting with flags in the their hands. After a short conversation the Schmidt’s asked if we would mind waiting forthe other couple’s son and welcome him home. YOU KNOW WE DID!!! Philadelphia PD led the way as we rode down Broad St past Lincoln Financial Field receiving waves and cheers from the Eagles fans tailgating before the game. I remember thinking that the last time that there was a parade on this part of Broad St was when the Phillies won the World Series! The 15 or so bikes and 5 cages made their way to Geno’s Steaks where we coined our Hero and his b rother who also served as a Marine. The Family was treated like VIP’s at Geno’s and then SSGT Schmidt and his brother Rich were off to the Eagles game to complete the day. This mission was Rich Schmidt’s(Dad)third mission with WWR. I think there will be more….
