dee2dee1Ride Report for Ride Captain Dee Pollace

Thursday October 27 was a rainy day in Philadelphia but smiles and hugs lit up the arrival gate of Philadelphia Airport Terminal B.  Marine Sgt. Brett Flavin was welcomed  home by his mother Dee Pollace, his father Bill Flavin, Bills fiancé Karen Meranti,  Brett’s grandfather Harvey Pennell and a dozen  clapping and cheering Warrior’s Watch Riders and Second Brigade MC. A Hero’s Welcome rolled out their banner as Maria Hyland presented Brett with a certificate recognizing his service, sacrifice and dedication to our country. We were joined by Lisa Thomas-Laury of Channel 6 Action News and her cameraman. Lisa interviewed Brett and broadcast her interview on the 6 o’clock news. We were also joined by a cameraman from NBC Channel 10.

Brett recently became a first time uncle as his sister Chelsea Sluck gave birth to a beautiful baby girl about 2 weeks ago. He will be meeting his new niece for the first time during this visit.

Brett has been a Marine for 51/2 years and has served 2 tours in Iraq. He is currently stationed at Camp Pendleton California and is assigned to the 11th Marines Field Artillery Counter Radar Battery. After 4 days with his Pennsylvania family he will be returning to California to his wife Clairese and their sons Garrett age 8 and Anthony age 4. He will then be deployed for a third time to a destination in the Middle East.

Brett and his family were escorted to his mother’s home in Morrisville with the assistance of the Philadelphia Police Department, the Middletown Township Police Department, the Falls Township Police Department and Falls Township Fire Company #1. We sincerely thank all of these men and women for their support in this welcome home escort.

We entered the Penns Grant development in our usual quiet manner (RIGHT!!) and were greeted at the home by Dee’s husband Angelo. Upon arrival at 160 Independence Drive (Nate’s Way) we had the honor of presenting Warriors Watch coins to three heros. First was 2 tour Iraq veteran Sgt Brett Flavin, USMC. Next was Vietnam Veteran, Brett’s father Bill Flavin. And third was USAF (retired) veteran , Brett’s grandfather Harvey Pennell who served in Africa and Korea. Now that’s what I call a 3-fer. After mugging for a few photos we departed to allow Brett and his family to enjoy his short visit.

Warriors Watch Riders would like to thank Bill, Dee, Karen, Angelo, Harvey and Brett’s entire family for the honor of participating in this very well deserved welcome home.

Semper Fi.  OOH RAH …….  The thanks are all ours to you, you are a wonderful group.  You will certainly be blessed.  The Angels were watching over us today & kept the rain at bay!!   If ever there is anything we can do for you…… please call on us.   Dee Pollace
