On Sunday 9/4/11, Warriors Watch Riders had a great time welcoming home and escorting Cpl Corey Stahler. We got the request for an escort for him from his aunt Beth who had been on a ride with Warriors Watch a few weeks ago. Corey had just returned from his second tour in Afghanistan. It was great to be able thank Corey in person and show our support for him.

We met at Becky’s Drive in, Lehigh Township. Everybody was having a great time greeting old friends and making new ones. We were joined by several other groups as well as many members of Corey’s family – most of them travelled from New Jersey. His grandparents came up from Florida for the occassion. Also attending was family friend SPC Rob Kislow who had been severly injured in Afghanistan as well as fellow Marine LCPL James Yeager (who we’d welcomed home the day before). We set up a flag line for Corey’s arrival – on the fly as he and his wife Kellie were a few minutes early! He was surprised at the amount of people there to greet him – he had more friends that he had realized, he just hadn’t met us before then! He was interviewed by two local news stations and then we were off to Germansville Fire Company where a celebratory picnic awaited. We pulled out and off we went. Lehigh Township Fire Police led the way with sirens and lights going; we’re grateful for the support they lend to our missions.

At the fire company Corey was coined, given a certificate of appreciation from Congress, a flag that had been flown over our nation’s capital, and a certificate of appreciation from A Hero’s Welcome. We found out it was his wife Kellie’s birthday – and sang Happy Birthday. House Representative Gary Day was there and thanked Corey as well as SPC Rob Kislow and LCPL James Yeager for their service to our country. Welcome Home Corey!!!!
