Ride Report posted for RC Glen DeVries.

The threats of Hurricane Irene could not stop the WWR from welcoming home Master at Arms/Seaman Christine Doran. Although her flight was delayed 3 times we waited until she was on the ground at O’Hare Airport and we knew the mission was going to be carried out.

Christine arrived at the DesPlaines Oasis about 31/2 hours later then she was expected. As you know, we do not give up on the mission. We wait until our hero arrives to give them the well deserved hugs and thank yous for protecting our freedom. Christine had had a long day, but was still smiling from ear to ear at the sight of the flagline that was there to greet her.

After the hugs and thank yous, we mounted up and escorted her to her grandparents home in Algonquin. Once in the Algonquin city limities, the Algonquin Police escorted us with lights and sirens. By this time it was about 11:00PM and we woke up the neighborhood. At the house we were greeted by friends and family. Christines parents were not able to physically be there for the welcome home, but with the wonders of technology, they were able to see everything via a laptop computer. This was really cool.

The presentations were made and more photos were taken. Another round of thank yous were given and we were on our way to let Christine have some family time and much needed rest.
