WWR escorted a group of Lcpl Brett Thomas’ family and friends, an uncle and some friends rode their bikes with Brett’s mom on the back seat, to the rest stop just north of the Pa/Delaware border on rte 95 to wait for the hero, his wife, dad and brother who were driving up from Camp Lejune. The excitement of the family was evident as they set up large pictures of Brett and milled around trying to stay cool in the 100 degree heat. When the caravan pulled in applause and “Welcome Home” cheers were certainly heard by our surprised hero. The first mug and hug of the day greeted Brett and we were soon on the road with leo escort to a second mug and hug at the restaurant where more WWR and family waited. After Brett had a few minutes to greet the rest of his friends and family I “coined” him, and he said when he gets settled in he will get a bike and join us. We then drifted off and left him and the family to enjoy his homecoming.
