The WWR staged at the Valero gas station at approximately 9:30 AM on a beautiful Sunday morning (close to SFO Airport).  At 10:45 AM, we headed over to the terminal with 17 bikes.  We parked and headed upstairs to meet this Submariner.  David is assigned to the USS Georgia and is the latest of the Ohio class Boomer Subs outfitted to be a general nuclear submarine.  He was just married in October, 2007 and stationed at Kings Bay, GA.  As we patiently waited for his arrival, we set-up the flag line.  Rich and CeCe Porter are friends of the family, which David is the son-in-law.  When he arrived, we mugged and hugged him as well as his family.  Then we headed downstairs as David
retrieved his bags and headed to the bikes.  He had no idea we were waiting for him outside as well.  We staged up and got on the freeway heading towards San Ramon.  Bryan Welden and several other groups were waiting at the house to welcome this Sailor home.  It was a very nice & quiet ride across the bay bridge.  As we got closer to San Ramon, the Fire Department was waiting for us at the exit to escort us to the house.  As we rounded the corner, we could see all of the community, flags waving, and one lone fireman standing atop his rig playing the bagpipes.  We were greeted with cheers and yells of Welcome Home.  We dismounted & David was presented with flags, certificates and coins.  Thanks to the San Ramon F.D., local Blue Star Moms, Lafayette Flag Brigade, Vietnam Veterans of Diablo Valley, American Legion and VFW.  Special Thanks to PGR for sharing in this ride with us.
Welcome Home David!
