Ride Report posted  for RC – Glen DeVries

U.S. Army A Battery, 2/377 PFAR, 4th Bde (Airborne), 25th Division as Field Artillery SP4 Erwin N. Obartuch is very proud to carry on his family devotion to serving our country.  His dad, Erwin Sr. is a Viet Nam vet and his mom was an Army Nurse.  Erwin Jr. was home on a very short leave.  He just finised a 15 month tour in Afghanistan, just 6 miles from the Pakistan border.  Because of the war conflict, Erwin had to miss his mid-tour leave.  Erwin Sr. asked the WWR to help honor his son, “If only one or two of you guys could show up that would be great.” he said.
Erwin Sr. said the family would be at a restaurant having Sunday dinner in his sons honor.

At 6:00PM on Sunday 25 bikes and 8 cages rode into the restaurant parking lot.  The WWR formed a flagline at the front door of the restaurant.  Glen went inside and found Erwin Jr. With a hug Glen said “Thank you for volunteering to protect our freedom, please come outside, some other people want to thank you”.  This was a total surprise for Erwin Jr.  He started to tremble a little as he walked outside and saw all the red, white and blue flags and people shouting “Welcome Home Erwin”.
Everyone gave Erwin a hug and blessed him and thanked him for serving our Country.  Erwin was presented with the WWR Honor Coin, beads and one more round of applause for our hero.

As we were mounting our bikes to leave, Erwin Jr. walked the bike line and gave everyone a hug and said “Thank you for making me feel like a Rock Star”.

God Bles you Erwin and thank you for protecting our freedom.
