This mission came to the WWR through one of the riders – Tim. Dave happened to be a Pastor at the local church in Castro Valley whom Tim knew. Dave’s son, Corey flew in from Afghanistan to attend his Father’s funeral. Corey’s brother Clay sent in the request through WWR National. We staged in Castro Valley with the family. We assisted with pall bearing (with Corey) as we placed Dave into the coach for his final ride out to Sacramento National Cemetery in Dixon, CA.

We had 13 bikes in all, one bus and about 4 cages for the ride. We arrived in Dixon and set-up our flag line. The Army performed the honor detail as we stood by. Once the services concluded, Corey walked up to his Dad and gave a final salute.

We gave our final mugs & hugs to Corey before heading home. It was a very quiet mission and such an honor to give our farewell to this Vietnam Vet. In a couple of days we will be escorting Corey back to the airport for his send-off, traveling back to the sand box.
