Ride Report posted for Spike

I was contacted by Larry’s sister Carol via one of our Riders Tim Pelleton.Carol advised me of Larry’s situation. As many Vietnam Vets their Homecoming was NILL. Just a very hateful bunch of protesters and very hateful group of people. They came out and bashed our troops coming haome from Vietnam.

Now some Vets did so-so,and some not.well,Larry arriving home in San Francisco was not a good one,the Cab Driver refused to give him aride ,because he had his Uniform on.Now Larry,a very Highly decorated vet,has lived with that all this time ,until today. We staged , and it was hot.Counted 27 bikes,5 cages we rolled up to the restuarant where he was at with his family,Tim went in,made a announcement to the entire customer base at the restuarant,They stood and clapped for Larry.he came out to some 35-40 patriots Hand Saluting him.We Mugged & hugged him. Now he recently had surgery for his back,in Surgery they found sharpnal, from Vietnam still in him.

So,we had to be very gentle with him.we loaded up,and headed to the house, where, when we turned the corner we saw 2 Alameda county fire trucks and about 60 more patriots waiting and cheering. Many speeches were given, coin, certificates. One of his unit members was there to share a very special story about larry with us.About how Larry saved his team from sure death. He is a HERO,this man Larry. And a very long overdue Welcome Home.
