Ride report posted for Mark Schmitt

WWR was invited by Matthew’s mother to stop by his Welcome  Home/Happy Birthdayparty to greet him after returning from 8 months in Afghanistan. We had approx. 9 bikes and 2 cages at staging area where a young man on his new bike rode up to see what was going on. As we told him the mission of WWR he said he had heard of us and wanted to join us on the day’s mission.

We came down the dead end street of Matthews’s house with horns blaring making lots of noise. As we approached the house, family and friends were coming out of the yard to see what the commotion was all about. We parked our bikes and commenced with our handshaking and hugging to the delight of all the party goers. We presented Matthew with a copy of all the well wishes from the WWR thread, honor beads and challenge coin. Matthew was surprised and very appreciative. It was an emotional time as we all expressed our sincere gratitude for his service and sacrifice.

The family was very happy and appreciative and could not stop thanking us. We sang happy birthday to Matthew and quietly disappeared.
