Ride report posted for Pebjr1:
Todays event was to support the Township of Mount Laurel with their annual fall festival at Laurel Acres Park.
The theme for this year is “Spirit of America”. We rallied at a nearby shopping center with 28 bikes and about 34 people. After a short ride we entered the park and took the service road to a cul de sac where we parked amd had 5 bikes park next to the stage. We formed a flag line leading to the stage.
After the Boy Scouts opened with the display of colors and Lenape HS chorus sang our National Anthem, we mugged ond hugged 3 heros as the were summoned to the stage. As Sgt. David Chaika, Spc. Andrew Doyle & Spc. Adam Rameriz stood on the stage, four of our members waited for that special moment when they got to coin our HEROES.
Now wait, I know you all can add and that I said there were 3 Heroes, but suprise we had a fourth HERO present today. Master Sergeant Lloyd Orth(Ret.), Veteran of WWII & Korea was there as well. Master Sergeant Orth is the NJ Chapter President of the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge and past Commander ot the VFW. So BAM now all four are getting “coined” and applauded by the audience.
Next up our own Piper18914 (Ray) played a selection on the bagpipes. Great job Ray, I had a hard time seeing but could swear thee were a few wet eyes in the crowd. The ceremony was closed by the mayor. Several members stayed to walk around the grounds and stop at the vendors.
Thanks to everyone for showing up today. You all are an amazing group of people. Special Thanks to Brit for the pictures…
