Ride Report posted for Joe Sams
You know its a real tear jerker when your dealing with any injured soldier. When your dealing with 60 you couldnt imagine how you would feel. That was the case tonight. The event took place from the rally point at the wawa at 1800. At one point we thought wawa was going to throw us out and we would have to migrate across the street to the diner. We had 57 bikes in the Wawa parking lot including Mount Holly Police Depts. with officer Mike Trimble, And we also had Mount Holly Fire and fire police, Hainesport fire and command vehical and Lumbertons Rescue truck. Also were 4 Cages. I stated we were only going to bring in 20 bikes through the wire to include myself big John and a newly welcomed home OIF vet plus all the bikes with flags. We parted our way for Fort Dix at 1830 and arrived outside the gate around 1845. We lined the now 60 Plus bikes as riders joined us as we were passing them outside in the inspection area of Ft. Dix Wrightstown gate. A DOD police officer flagged me down as we pulled in and I ran up to him and he said. I am opening up the gate for you Bring All The Bikes in. So I gave the change of plans and all 60 plus bikes and 5 Fire Dept Vehicals and our Cages came onto FT Dix. We Meet with our warriors at the WTU and started our escort. We had the Police bike up front riding with some WTU staff. Behind them we had our Loud fire trucks from Mt Holly and Hainesport, Following them we had our bikes with the flags, our 60 plus warriors bikes without flags. Our Cages and Lumberton Fire Dept took up the rear. Coming off Ft. Dix and into Springfield we had Mansfield and Springfield PD blocking the roads. As we approched route 206 Eastampton blocked that intersection and every intersection Until we reached Mount Holly where their police department blocked ther roads. We pulled up to the emergency squad and were greeted by the media yellow ribbon club and various other orginazations. We got off the bikes where a flag line formed and the heros were welcomed as the crowd erupted in a round of applause. Once inside the building as American Soldier was playing our heros took seats and they were handed out awards from all the orginizations there and Congressman Adlers office. I would like to thank every rider that came out tonight yellow ribbon club saluteburlcotroops.com american legion post 11 the vfw the girlscouts and everyone else that showed up.
