Obituary

CPL William G. Gehret, 23, of Marlton, NJ, was a loving son, brother, uncle, and dedicated Marine, passed away on August 22, 2023, at Camp Lejeune, NC. Born on October 8, 1999, in Voorhees, NJ, he was a beacon of courage, love, and passion throughout his life.

William, fondly known as Billy and Will, was the cherished son of Matthew Gehret and his wife, Dena, and Jacqueline Gehret and her partner, Robert Breuer. He was a beloved brother to Devon Gehret, Lexi Laskowski, Hailey Laskowski, Kendall Breuer, and Tyler Breuer. He was a doting uncle to Brayden Lynch, Riley Settles and Finley Breuer, and a treasured grandson to William and Maria Lynn, and Dennis and Dottie Deal. Billy was predeceased by his grandfather, William E. Gehret, Jr., grandmother Sharon Raguz, grandfather Gregory J Miller, Aunt Kelly A Tatum, and Cousin Jordan Tatum. He also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members who will miss him dearly.

Billy was a proud graduate of the Class of 2018 from Cherokee High School. His dedication to service and love for his country led him to enlist in the Marine Corps in 2020. Stationed at Camp Lejeune, he fulfilled his dream of becoming a dedicated Marine, serving his country with honor and distinction. Billy received many accommodations in his short time in the Marine Corps but his proudest one was the Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal for his sharp leadership, technical proficiency, and dedication to duty.

Billy was a man of many interests. He had a passion for playing soccer and was an avid video game enthusiast. He loved country music and enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends. His good heart and kind nature were evident in his interactions with everyone he met. He had a special bond with his niece and nephew, cherishing every moment he spent with them.

Billy was a man of courage, always ready to face any challenge that came his way. He was loving, always putting the needs of his loved ones before his own. He was passionate, pouring his heart and soul into everything he did, whether it was serving his country or spending time with his family. His courage, love, and passion will continue to inspire all who knew him.

A viewing will be held from 9:00 am to 11:30 am, on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at Bradley Funeral Home, 601 Rt 73 South, Marlton, NJ 08053. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 pm, at St. Joan of Arc Church, 100 Willow Bend Rd, Marlton, NJ 08053. Burial to follow at Colestown Cemetery in Cherry Hill, NJ.

This was so heartbreaking! We hope the turnout and all the good words spoken were a help to the family. It was truly our privilege to stand in honor of such a good young man.
