Lloyd C. Zimmerman Sr., passed away peacefully on Friday, September 2, 2022 at home. He was the husband of Helen (Conrad) Zimmerman, sharing 71 years of marriage together. Joe, as he was affectionately known, was born October 26, 1931 in Northampton, PA, a son of the late Russell and Iva (Koehler) Zimmerman. He proudly shared his birthday with his grandsons, Joey Zimmerman and P.F.C. Travis Zimmerman. He was a Korean War Veteran, serving from 1952-1954 with the 8th Cavalry Regiment Company C, 1st Cavalry Division, being discharged honorably as a Corporal. While in the service he also earned the nicknames, GI Joe and Sloppy Joe. Joe then returned home and was employed at Knoll Inc. for thirty-nine years, retiring as a supervisor. Obituary Lloyd C. Zimmerman Sr., passed away peacefully on Friday, September 2, 2022 at home. He was the husband of Helen (Conrad) Zimmerman, sharing 71 years of marriage together. He built the family cabin located in Potter County, where he and his family would share a love of hunting. Joe was also a great woodworker who crafted many pieces of furniture. He also loved the Eagles. Surviving in addition to his wife, are son, Lloyd Jr. and wife Elizabeth, of Boyertown, PA; brother, Larry Zimmerman of East Greenville, PA and sister, Joan Bartholomew, of Mertztown, PA; grandchildren: Jessica Zimmerman, of Philadelphia, PA; Rachael Zimmerman and Joseph Zimmerman, both of Texas; Melissa Yashura, of Mont Clare, PA; Lynn Herb, of Maryland and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his son, Russell Zimmerman; grandson: P.F.C. Travis C. Zimmerman and siblings: Dorothy, Renigh, Geraldine, Mae, Kenneth, Gerald and Ronald. A memorial service will be held at 12 PM on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington St., East Greenville, PA 18041 with a burial following in Fairview Cemetery in Northampton, PA. All are welcome to visit with the family from 11 to 11:45 AM at the funeral Home prior to the service.
