SEPA 9/17 Sanctioned Event!!

Starts at King of Prussia Volunteer Fire Company 9/11 Memorial, 170 Allendale Rd, King of Prussia, PA 19406. Registration begins at 0830 - Kickstands up 1000.

Warriors' Watch has been asked to join in this event and help road guard for the event. This is a fundraiser and the cost to attend is $20.00 per bike / $10.00 for additional rider. The ride is from King of Prussia to Morgantown Pa.,

Steven L Rodriguez was a US Navy Veteran and a retired Highway Patrolman assigned to NYPD Highway # 3 Unit in Queens, NY. As a result of his actions at ground zero Steve developed brain cancer and succumbed to his cancer on the morning of June 9th, 2021.

He had a very witty sense of humor, he loved Aviation, Motorcycles, old Marx Brothers Movies, and Abbott and Costello reruns. On September 11, 2001 while working, Steve responded to the attacks at the World Trade Center. He was at ground zero after the planes struck and before the towers collapsed. He assisted in the evacuations of many civilians escaping the area. He witnessed the horrors of people leaping to their death to escape the heat and smoke. He recalled seeing Fireman briskly walking past him, heading towards the towers. Many would not return. He said, “It was the bravest thing I have ever seen”. When the South Tower began to collapse, he too ran for his life, unable to make it to his own Police cruiser, he managed to jump into an Emergency Service Vehicle nearby just before a blast of debris pounded the vehicle. Visibility out the front windshield became zero. As the dust began to settle, he exited the vehicle to help those who could not escape. Washing a man’s face off with a bottle of water. Steve worked for days the assisting with the search and recovery efforts at ground zero. As a member of NYPD Highway Patrol # 3 Steve provided Motorcycle escorts and bereavement support services to family members of the deceased first responders.

As a result of his actions at ground zero Steve developed brain cancer. He became paralyzed a few months before his death, eventually it became too difficult for him to speak. When Steve and his family were in desperate need, The Ray Pfeifer Foundation stepped in and provided much needed financial support. It helped us secure hospice support and medical equipment needed for the home. Steve succumbed to his cancer on the morning of June 9th, 2021, in his home of Wallkill, NY. Almost twenty years later at his funeral, a fellow Highway Patrol Officer told us, “If it wasn’t for Steve, I would be dead. He saved my life on 9/11, he saved us all”. His family knew nothing of this, Steve was too humble to share. As of the 20th anniversary of 9/11 (2021) the number of cancer victims among Ground Zero responders and others who lived, worked or went to school near the World Trade Center has risen to 23,710, including 1,510 people who died, health officials say. This Foundation named after 9/11 FDNY Fire Fighter Ray Pfeifer. Ray fought for health care benefits for September 11th first responders, while he was sick.

Ray passed away in May of 2017. This Foundation was created in his honor. The Ray Pfeifer Foundation provides supplement funding to help with home needs such as health aides and nurses that World Trade Center Health Program (WTCHP) limits. They also purchased much needed medical support equipment needed for the home. Many things that are just not covered by the WTCHP. We said we would Never Forget. These heroes need our support. On Sept 17, 2022, a 9/11 Memorial Ride from KOP 9/11 Memorial to Morgantown, PA has been planned in Steve’s honor. Donations collected will be donated to The Ray Pfeifer Foundation.

Starts at King of Prussia Volunteer Fire Company 9/11 Memorial, 170 Allendale Rd, King of Prussia, PA 19406. Registration begins at 0830 - Kickstands up 1000.
