Post subject:  N.IL 2/13,14 Honor Mission: Joseph Matthew Lugo, U.S. Army

Joseph Matthew Lugo succumbed to cancer on January 27, 2022, at the age of 30.

Joey enlisted in the United States Army in 2014. He was currently assigned to the Soldier Recovery Unit at Ft. Sam Houston, TX. He formerly served with the 96th Aviation Support Battalion, 101st Combat Aviation Brigade at Fort Campbell, KY. He also served with the 35th Air Defense Artillery Brigade located at Osan Air Base in Korea. He held the MOS’s of 25C (Radio Operator-Maintainer) and most recently 14G (Air Defense Battle Management System Operator). Joey successfully completed the Air Assault Course in 2015 at Fort Campbell, KY and was awarded an Air Assault Badge. During his eight years as a soldier, he was awarded two Army Achievement Medals, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and an Army Service Ribbon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project, 230 W. Monroe St., Suite 200, Chicago, IL 60606, or the Gary Sinise Foundation, P.O. Box 368, Woodland Hills, CA 91365 would be appreciated.
