Robert A. “Bob” Houston 3rd, of Abington died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Thursday, November 11, 2021. He was 59.

Bob was the loving and devoted husband of Martha J. Yetman Houston and together they shared 19 years of marriage.
Born in Philadelphia he was the son of Claire Henny Houston of Philadelphia and the late Robert A. Houston Jr.

A long time resident of Philadelphia, Bob started his career as a public servant with 8 years in the US Army as a Tank Medic, followed by an exciting career of 33 years as a Philadelphia Firefighter. Bob’s public service extended into his free time as he lead Scout Troop 463 of Philadelphia as a Scout Master and presided over the Lower Holmesburg Townwatch, which he founded. Bob was a proud Eagle Scout and member of both the NRA and American Legion Post #33. He was an avid collector of firearms and loved the outdoors, especially his annual Shawnee Mountain vacation. Being an internet enthusiast, Bob enjoyed researching his Scottish heritage. He was also a frequent flyer in Facebook jail.

Most of all, Bob will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother, and uncle and a dedicated public servant. He will be dearly missed.

In addition to his wife and his mother, Bob leaves behind his children, Robert A. Houston IV, Tony Houston, Nicholas J. Houston, and Taylor A. Houston and his siblings, John Houston (Michele), Kassie Niagara (Joseph) and Claire Goodman (Keith).

Large Military,Firefighters, & Second Alarmers presence expected.

Bob was a personal friend of mine...truly a great guy.

Mr. Houston's ashes were transported in a Philadelphia Second Alarmers' vehicle followed by a mile-long procession. He was well-honored and the attendance attests to the man he was. We hope this brought solace to the family
