Norberto Santiago

Norberto (Bertito) Santiago was born to the late Agustin Santiago and Ana Lita Rivera-Valentin on April 17, 1945 in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico and departed this life on July 6, 2021. He was a doting father, devoted husband, and loving family man who was deeply admired and loved.

Norberto studied in the Jayuya School system for a short period of time before coming to the United States the end of 1957 where he met the love of his life Maria Christina Hernandez. Shortly after, their love story began and two hearts became one on December 16, 1967. From this union, one of their greatest accomplishments was their (4) children: Sylvia Zolk (Brian), Rosa Iris Feliciano (Albert), Norberto Santiago (Jr.), and Marcos Antonio Santiago (Carrie). Growing up as children, they were raised in the church and taught what it meant to be of good character.

Norberto was inducted into the U.S. Army on October 20, 1965 as a PVT (Private) E-1 and served for two years until September 20, 1967. While serving in the Vietnam War, he received metals, badges, commendations, citations, and campaigned ribbons. To name a few: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Metal, Sharpshooter (Rifle M-14), and Vietnam Campaign Medal.

As a young adult, Norberto enjoyed rooster fights with his best friend Anibal Ramos and other friends. He had a deep passion for and enjoyed fishing, boxing, listening to music especially Leonardo Paniagua. He enjoyed taking nature walks in the park while holding hands with his beloved wife.

Norberto was preceded in death by two siblings Reynaldo Santiago and Elenita Torres. He leaves to mourn his devoted wife Maria (Taty) Santiago, his (4) children: Sylvia, Rosa, Norberto (Beto), Marcos (Mikey); (1) granddaughter Annalyse (Annie) Feliciano; (2) sisters Ana Rosa Oquendo and Carmen Rivera, (1) brother Ricardo Santiago, and a host of nieces and nephews.
