Thomas H. Garner, 72, USA, Vietnam Springfield, MO Monday 24 May 21
The family and loved ones of SSG Thomas H. Garner (Ret) has honored the Warriors’ Watch Riders with a request to escort their loved one to his final resting place at the Springfield Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery (MVC) and there to stand a flag line while full military honors are rendered. Hero Garner proudly and honorably served his country in the US Army giving over 20 years of faithful service.
Hero Garner earned and was awarded numerous awards, ribbons and medals including the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal with Four Service Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, two Overseas Service Ribbons, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, the Army Service Ribbon, and the Army Commendation Medal. During our heroes service he had several MOS including Cannon Fire Direction Specialist, DETE Repairer and an Calibration Specialist.
SSG Garner loved his God, enjoyed reading scripture, studying the Hebrew culture. He enjoyed his church, music, model boats, woodworking and model trains. After his retirement from the Army he worked at the Ozark Christian College. SSG Garner passed away in August of 2020 and due to Covid issues and restrictions, his committal was postponed until May 24, 2021. The family will be bringing our hero’s cremains from Racine, MO to MVC and we will meet the family at the Fast and Friendly Convenience Store at Evans and US 65 for escort to MVC.
