The family of US Marine Corp LCPL, Roy Dennis Buckner, Sr. has honored the Warriors’ Watch Riders with a request for a final salute and escort from the Greenlawn North Funeral Home to his final resting place at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery and stand a flag line where full military honors will be rendered.

Hero Buckner entered the United States Marine Corps in January 1970 and served proudly and honorably until his discharge in January 1972. He then fulfilled 4 years of reserve service through January 1976. Of his 2 years active service, 11 months were in Vietnam. He achieved the rank of Lance Corporal and earned the USMC Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one Star, and the Vietnamese Campaign Medal.

Hero Buckner was born July 24, 1950 in Springfield, and died April 17, 2021 at his home in Seymour. He was a career truck driver and drove many years for Roadway Express. He was an avid motorcyclist, loved his family, the Marine Corps, and his dog Bodi. He is survived by his wife Cheryl, two daughters, five sons, twenty grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
