Ride Report posted for Readbeard
We were contacted by Family Readiness Group Liaison 344th CSH and asked about assisting with a Welcome home celebration that would take place on Ft. Dix Base at the Timmerman Center. How could we refuse that? These Heroes had been deployed for 13 months to Afghanistan.
As we rallied at the Visitor center for the base I was surprised by the different groups represented there. All coming together for one common goal, To Welcome these Heroes home.
WE received an Escort on base from Security/Safety (Which we really need to give a SHOUT OUT to for their help with getting us on Base in such a short notice situation)
We split our Members into two groups. One group waited outside lining the Walk way at the front Entrance doors to the Center, the other group headed off approx. 1 mile away for these Heroes who were to March in formation to the Center for their Celebration.
As the Motorcycle Escort arrived to where the March would begin, Our Heroes where filing out and getting into their formation already… Well we just can’t let them do that without making a little “CONTROLLED” Fuss over them… a Few Cheers, waving of the hands and some WHooohoooo’s filled the immediate area. We quickly fell into line to Escort these Heroes while they marched in Cadence to the Center Enveloping them proudly front and back with our Bikes.
As we pulled up to the front of the center, the awaiting reception was beautiful. The walkway filled with American Flags waving, People cheering and clapping all to let these Heroes know how proud and thankful we ALL are for their service and safe return. We had a chance to mingle through the crowd and shake some hands and individually thank them one on one. AND STILL they thank us for doing this… It is amazing.
To the 344 CSH group we all want to say THANK YOU for your dedication and continued service to our country, AND for seeing to the care and well-being of our service men and woman deployed.
