This mission was a special one due to the fact that the Lieutenant is the stepfather of one of our riders – Tim Pellaton.  As the story goes, the Lieutenant was a B-17 Bomber Pilot and after many missions over Germany, he was shot down.  He survived after he bailed out of his aircraft & ended up hiding in the basement of a church with another American pilot and a German Officer.  The German Officer still had his side arm, which the Lieutenant removed & still has it today.  So, we wanted to have a special Welcome and Thank You for him.  We staged with 8 bikes & headed over to the restaurant where he was dining with his family.  We all went in the restaurant to surprise him.  After the mugs & hugs, we gathered up the Lieutenant & the family and headed to their house.  After a short 10 minute ride, we parked and went into the garage, where we had the large flag & the rest of his friends and family waiting.  We presented the Lieutenant with certificates, flags & coins and thanked him for his service, which he never received until that day.  These WWII servicemembers have the best stories and they just love to share them with other Veterans.  Welcome Home Lieutenant!
