Ride Report posted for Doug Askren

There was a great turnout for this mission even though it was extremely short notice.  We had about forty patriots show up to welcome home this twenty seven year Army veteran.  Due to rainy weather only four bikes were at the event, but there were many flag decorated cages.  The LEO support was great with five Police squads and two fire trucks.  We lit up the night and made a lot of noise.  The Colonel and his wife arrived with there two young children and were warmly welcomed.  We presented the Colonel with a challenge coin and beads.  The escort was exciting with all the emergency vehicles including a fire truck parked in the intersection in front of the fire house with the firemen at attention in their bunker gear.

The LTC expressed his gratitude and mentioned one of his soldiers, a KIA being buried on Monday.  He spoke of mixed feelings, joy of returning, but sadnes at the loss of a young warrior.  At that point we had a moment of silence for this heroes and all our fallen warriors.  The Colonel was amazed by the entire welcome home and his kids and wife were very excited.

Thanks to all the LEO support, our loyal members and, of course thanks most of all to this career officer.  He has served well for many years.  Thankfully he will be home with his family for a while now.  We owe him a debt of gratitude.
