WWR: Summer is Heating Up

The Welcome Home and other escorts have been heating up, coming fast and furious. With thousands of National Guard troops deployed, returning and being sent off from the PA and NJ areas alone, between welcoming the units and individuals within the units are keeping us busy. That's the way we like it.

This newsletter is a day late and a story or two short because of just that - I've been out riding missions, speaking at Flag Day events, and visiting downed riders in the hospital.

Speaking of which, please be sure to check in on the FeFe Get Well thread here:

Feef down, UPDATED Info

I've seen some wonderful expressions of support from WWR Members, but never anyting like this. As of tonight we are up to 26 internet pages of condolences, good wishes, prayers and biker-banter for the benefit of our girl FeFe. It's great, keep it up. And you can follow Feef's progress as she recovers with updates from visitors like me and her family. Her brother Jeffory in particular is on the forums and is doing a wonderful job of keeping us informed. THANK YOU, JEFFORY, for thinking of us, because we really and truly want to know everything that happens.

We will be planning some sort of Warriors' Watch celebration upon Feef's release from the hospital. What form it will take is not yet clear, so STAY TUNED.

Among the MANY welcome home missions coming up is one that is close to our hearts. This request came to us from our Gold Star Mom and friend of the WWR Mary Conboy. We will be welcoming a Marine who won a medal for valor and nees the comfort and commraderie of fellow vets, and that's what we will do. Friday, June 19 at 1600 at the Bartram Ave. firehouse. We will go from there to the airport, escort him home to Roxboro. Follow the planning and check for last-minute changes here:

Young Marine Medal for Valor Winnder coming home to Roxboro

This isn't even the tip of the iceberg, folk, so please follow the Mission Planning forums for upcoming events and rides. With this much work to do, we need everyone to do all they can - one ride a month or five rides a week - whatever you can do, that is enough. You are the heroes to our heros - never forget it.

Following are the mission itineraries for the CONFIRMED MISSIONS coming up this week, followed by a list of upcoming missions and sanctioned events. PLEASE BE SURE TO CHECK THE FORUM LINKS FOR THESE MISSIONS PRIOR TO HEADING OUT, for last minute changes, updates and times.

THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING OUR WARRIORS! TOGETHER WE ARE CHANGING THE CULTURE - ONE WARRIOR AT A TIME!

*This newsletter is named "The Weekly Ride" or "The Ride", for short, in memory of and to honor Sgt. Jennifer Hartman, U.S. Army. Sgt. Hartman was killed in Iraq by America's enemies. She died in defense of our freedom at the age of 20. This quote from Jennifer was read at her graveside:

"It's not about what happened in the past. It's not about what might happen in the future. It's about the ride, for Christ's sake."
