DoD Identifies Army Casualty

May 27, 2017

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Inherent Resolve.

Spc. Etienne J. Murphy, 22, of Loganville, Georgia, died May 26, in Al-Hasakah, Syria, of injuries sustained during a vehicle rollover related incident. The incident is under investigation.

Murphy was assigned to 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia.

My family and I wish to express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Spc. Etienne J. Murphy. You are now and will forever be in our thoughts and prayers. The world is a smaller place today without him.

We hope that somehow you will find peace.

Etienne, stand down, you have done your duty in this life, carry on to the next.
