SEPA 12/16 H/M WWR Member Anthony Cirillo

We are truly moved by the passing of this long time member. Anthony has surely attended thousands of missions over the years. Understandably, we haven't seen him recently.

Anthony P. Cirillo, 62, passed away after a long illness on November 3, 2023, with his wife by his side. Anthony was a devoted and adoring husband to his wife of twenty-eight years, Deborah G. Groeber. He was a doting uncle to his many nieces and nephews and loved to share in their life’s endeavors. There are too many nieces and nephews to list, but they will miss their Uncle Anthony immeasurably and carry his love and support in their hearts. His gentleness, love, and caring touched countless people’s lives.

Anthony worked for more than forty years in the telecommunications industry helping people connect with one another. Invested in the lives of others, he volunteered in many organizations throughout his life including Mohegan Volunteer Fire Association, Telephone Pioneers of America, Guiding Eyes for the Blind, Patriot Guard Riders, Warriors’ Watch Riders and Philadelphia Achilles, and he was a volunteer ski instructor for the disabled for more than twenty years. Traveling the world and taking photos along the way was a passion he shared with those he loved. He proposed to his wife at the Great Wall of China and together they traveled to all seven continents, culminating in their last trip to Iceland and Greenland one month before his passing.

All WWR members are asked to place a black ribbon across their back patch until after the services for our friend, Anthony. Since Anthony was not a veteran, there will be no flag line.

Sadly and respectfully standing by. Anthony was a stoic man; he didn't share his cancer diagnosis and subsequent medical issues. He was a quiet man who didn't talk about himself and his accomplishments. Most of all, he truly loved his wife and was an extraordinary husband to Deborah, who's extraordinary woman in her own right.

From Deborah: Anthony's family and I would love it if you and others from the group could come to the church! If you or others have photos to share, that would also be wonderful! (You could get photos to me in advance and we could add them to the slideshow). You guys meant a lot to Anthony, so I'd like it if you could share the information with others that knew him. Riding his bike and serving/volunteering in this way was the only "hobby" he had.

Anthony was a great guy. Remember him on many a mission. His work transferred him to I believe it was Seattle Washington and he commuted from here on a monthly basis. In the last 6 months or so, I have seen him a few times on Honor Missions. Glad he had a chance to come back out ,before he passed ,and do what he enjoyed in honoring veterans.

Standing by.

Anthony was a wonderful, caring, devoted, and selfless man which was evident by the attendance and words spoken today. Deborah and their family are very appreciative of all who attended. Anthony will be greatly missed!
