Captain Latham enlisted in the United States Army on September 25, 2006 as a Military Police Officer and later commissioned as an Ordnance Officer on May 23, 2016. Shortly thereafter, he attended the Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal (NAVSCOLEOD) school at Eglin Air Force Base, FL and became an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Officer in 2017. Upon graduating EOD school, CPT Latham was assigned to the 744th Ordnance Company (EOD) at Fort Campbell, Kentucky and served as a Platoon Leader and Operations Officer. In August 2020, CPT Latham was re-assigned to the 192D Ordnance Battalion (EOD) in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where he served as the Battalion Training and Chief Plans Officer until his passing. CPT Latham’s military education consists of Ordnance Basic Officer’s Leaders Course, Combined Logistics Captain’s Career Course, NAVSCOLEDOD, Air Assault, Combat Life Saver’s Course, and combative Level 1 and 2. CPT Latham’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (1 Oak leaf cluster), the Army Achievement Medal (1 Oak leaf cluster), Army Good Conduct Medal (1 Clasp), National Defense Service Medal, Afghan Campaign Medal (1 Star), Iraq Campaign Medal (1 Star), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terror Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (4 awards), NATO Medal and Senior EOD Badge.
