Walter Petroske was in the U.S. Army from October 3,1942 until his Honorable Discharge on November 10, 1945. He was a Sergeant in Company A, 9th Armored Engineer Battalion.

Walter fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was one of the demolition specialists who worked to disarm explosives on the Remagen Bridge while under heavy enemy fire on March 26,1945. The Remagen Bridge was the last intact Bridge over the Rhine River and his actions and those of his battalion allowed for Allied forces to enter Germany.

Walter was awarded a Certificate of Merit for his actions, as well as the American Theater Service Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WALTER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are a member of the Greatest Generation, you asked for nothing in return for your service and dedication, yet you are owed so much by so many.

You were then, are now, and will forever be a True American Hero.

All I can do is to say Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!
