We have a request from Karen Rodgers for Warrior Watch Riders to welcome home her father,
P.O. Edward Rodgers, on his 95th birthday is 7/4.

My father doesn't remember a lot about the specifics of his time in the US NAVY. However, he has shared over the years some information. We know he was a Petty Officer in the US NAVY serving from 1942 through 1945. He went in at the end of WW2. He had planned to join the US MARINE CORPS and drop out of high school at the beginning of WW2 however my grandmother insisted he finish high school. He graduated from Southern High in 1942 and joined the US Navy that June. He served until December of 1945. Then he did some additional machinist training until May of 1946.

He often spoke of his time in Hawaii and San Diego. He said he would stand on the aircraft carriers and guide them in as an Aviation Machinist.

He like all his fellow WW2 Vets had received the Pacific Theater ribbon, American Theater Ribbon and Victory Medal.
