Three WWII veterans will arrive at the Philadelphia International Airport on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at 5 pm for a WWII reunion to be held October 10-13 at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey. Two veterans served in the 314th Infantry Regiment and one veteran served in the 315th Infantry Regiment. These units were part of the 79th Infantry Division and were under the command of General George Patton. The 79th was a spearhead division, not an occupation division. It saw heavy, front-line combat during the great majority of the European allied war effort. The 79th was one of the first U.S. Army divisions to reach and cross the Rhine River.

The 314th WWII reunions have been held annually since 1946. The October 10-13, 2019 reunion is sponsored by the First 314th Infantry Battalion at Fort Dix and is hosted by the 314th Infantry Association of WWII. This reunion is the First Annual Joint Reunion of the 314th & 315th Infantry Associations of WWII.

The three veterans are -in alpha order:
Donald E. Lunquist, 314th, Regimental Headquarters, Corporal, born May 1926, of Deland, Florida;
Robert G. Vondale, 314th, 1st Battalion HQ, PFC, born June 1925, of Lansing, Michigan;
Peter Wisnoski, 315th, Cannon Company, T5, born June 1925, of Morrisville, Pennsylvania.
After arriving at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, all three veterans will gather Friday morning, October 11, and field questions from uniformed personnel at JB MDL during an informal Q&A, to be held at Tommy B’s Community Activity Center, Bldg. 2705.
