SNJ 5/10 H/M Navy & retired Glassboro Pd. Lt. Dave Vasile

Rally: MATHIS FUNERAL HOME 43 N DELSEA DR Glassboro
Rally Time: 0830
Flag line in place by:0845

Very short flag line while family enters for private visitation... The Warriors Watch Riders will be escorting this Hero and his family to his final resting place.

David J. Vasile, (Dave) 76, passed away surrounded by his loving family on May 3, 2019. He grew up in Altoona Pennsylvania and graduated from Altoona High School where he met his childhood sweetheart Barbara Mantz. They married in 1963.
Dave enlisted in the Navy, June 1961 and served 4 years aboard the USS Waldo County LST-1163. Following his enlistment, Dave served with the Navy recruitment department. Later, he graduated from the Police Academy and served on the Glassboro Police Department for 30 years, retiring as a Lieutenant. Throughout his careers in service, Dave will be remembered for the friendships he made along the way. He was always outgoing, friendly and well known in the community in which he served for so many years. He most enjoyed a good laugh, a funny joke, and a very detailed story. He had a love of motorcycles and enjoyed touring with the Blue Knights after his retirement.
His ultimate love, of course, has ALWAYS been his family, his “Barbie”, his “girls” and his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was the husband who took care of his wife and family. He was the dad who let you paint his nails, put bows in his hair, play baby dolls and tea party.
Dave and his wife, Barb, have been married for 55 years and lived all but the first year of their marriage in Glassboro New Jersey. Dave is survived by his devoted wife, Barb, and their three daughters, Heidi Milward, Tami Gall (Robert), and Kristi Helsel (Andy). The greatest joys in his retirement were his grandchildren, Tara Roberto (Michael), Rebecca Gall, David Gall, James Milward, Jake Helsel, Abby Helsel, and his two adorable great grandchildren, Gia and Lorenzo Roberto. Dave is also survived by his loving brother, Jacob Vasile (Betty) and sister in-law Bonnie Fuller (Ray). Dave was predeceased in 2002 by his beloved grandson, Bobby Milward.
Throughout his young life he made fun memories as he enjoyed singing (Steel Pier, AC) dancing (American Band Stand), and also enjoyed bowling, riding his motorcycle and spending time at the local Dunkin’ Donuts with his friends. He could fix anything and was always happy and eager to help out his friends and family.
Dave, the husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, you are already missed more than words can say. We will all love you forever!
A private family service will be held in his memory and a private interment will immediately follow. Dave will be saluted with a Warriors’ Watch Riders send off and laid to rest with full military honors.

Your support and condolences are greatly appreciated.
