US Army Corporal Eriverto Ortiz. The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced that U.S. Army Corporal Eriverto Ortiz, 27, of Batesville, Texas, who was killed during the Korean War on 22 September 1950 at the age of 27, was accounted for on Aug. 10, 2023.

After the war, Corporal Ortiz’ family moved to Elgin from Texas. The family invites all community members, patriotic organizations, and volunteers from Operation LOVE to join them in honoring his sacrifice and return home.


Date and Time Information

Thursday October 24th, 2024:
A Dignified Transfer will be conducted at O’hare Airport, American Airlines Cargo Terminal, 609 S Access Rd, Chicago, Illinois. The Public and Media are Invited
Procession Staging: 2:30 pm
Ride Brief:3:15PM

Flight Arrival: American Airlines #2249 4:02 pm
Procession Ohare Departure: Approximately 5:00 pm, after Dignified Transfer

Sunday October 27th,2024:
Visitation: Will be held from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, located at 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120.
We will do a pass and review around 5:00pm

Monday October 28th,2024:
Visitation: Will be held from 11:00 am. to 12:00 pm at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, located at 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120.

Procession Staging: 10:00am
Ride Brief: 10:30am
Estimated Departure: 12:20pm
Procession Route to Church: Park St East, to N. Gifford St South to, Fulton St West.

• Monday October 28th,2024:
Secondary Staging will start at 11:30 am at St. Mary Church of Elgin 400 Fulton Street, Elgin, IL 60120.
Funeral mass Will be held at 12:30 pm
A fully escorted procession to Bluff City Cemetery, 945 Bluff City Boulevard, Elgin, IL 60120 will follow the mass where full military honors will be rendered.

Estimated Departure: 1:15pm
Procession Route: Fulton St West to, S. Chapel St. North to, E. Chicago St East to, S. Channing St South, to Laurel St East to, E Chicago St East, to S. Liberty St (RT 25) South, to Bluff City Blvd East arriving at Bluff City Cemetery.
