US Army Corporal Eriverto Ortiz. The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced that U.S. Army Corporal Eriverto Ortiz, 27, of Batesville, Texas, who was killed during the Korean War on 22 September 1950 at the age of 27, was accounted for on Aug. 10, 2023.
After the war, Corporal Ortiz’ family moved to Elgin from Texas. The family invites all community members, patriotic organizations, and volunteers from Operation LOVE to join them in honoring his sacrifice and return home.

Funeral mass Will be held at 12:30 pm A fully escorted procession to Bluff City Cemetery, 945 Bluff City Boulevard, Elgin, IL 60120 will follow the mass where full military honors will be rendered.
