Please Pass On .....

Warriors Watch Riders, Patriot Guard Riders, and All Those Who Support Our Military:

Weekdays are always difficult for those who work and last Friday's record-breaking heat was not conducive to riding in or on heated machinery, so when I stood in Courtyard 1 and waited for your bikes to roll in, I couldn't believe my eyes--nearly 40 bikes + additional cars/trucks. With American Flags flowing in the breeze, it was a glorious sight.

When I noticed familiar faces representing MANY organizations, my eyes filled with tears. When it comes to supporting our active duty military, wounded, fallen, veterans and their families there should be unity, and I am so very proud of all of you for supporting each other and participating together on this special arrival/escort.

As you know, Navy SEALS like to fly under the radar--no photos, no smiles. But when our guests walked through your flag lines, they couldn't help but be reminded that we are grateful for their service and sacrifice. Thank you for your assistance in gathering bikes, bags, and equipment and escorting to the hotel in Sunnyvale, then on the first leg of "Ride 2 Recovery"--Palo Alto to Los Angeles on Sunday. Such a great challenge/bonding event for military and veterans--200 riders from every branch of the military.

I attended the kick-off dinner on Saturday and one of the Navy SEALS was behind me in the buffet line. He is stationed at Virginia Beach and said he has seen Riders at funerals, but never knew they also welcomed at homecomings. He appreciated that so many were at SFO to welcome him and his buddies. The smile on his face showed his true reaction--AWESOME!

Thanks again--stay safe.

V/r,

LeAnn Thornton
