Ride Report posted for Johnny (Greywolf) Bradford

We were invited by the Camellia Garden Club to be present for this Dedication Ceremony.

When I arrived at the staging area 1 bike was already there, soon more arrived. We had our Mission briefing, Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, Prayer, and mounted up for the short ride to Heritage Park,. We arrived at the location with 8 Bikes, 3 Cages, and 22 Members, and were met by members of the Camellia Garden Club and local officials. We set up a double Flag Line for all to walk thru as they arrived for the Ceremony, then repositioned to form a back drop for the Ceremony. The American Legion Post 5 Honor Guard; Presented the Colors, speeches were made by members of the Camellia Garden Club, the Federated Garden Clubs of GA. and Local Officials.

Then Betty Grimes, president, Garden Club of Georgia, Inc., unveiled the Blue Star Memorial marker. American the Beautiful was played on the Bagpipes, and the Ceremony ended with the playing of Taps.

The Blue Star By-Way Marker symbolizes the Blue Star flags, which were hung in the windows of families of service members during World War II. After the war, the Federated Garden Clubs began erecting memorials and soon came to honor all service members.

The memorial plantings of markers became a national garden club program in 1945, and Georgia was the 18th state to begin the memorial gardens.

I would like to take this opportunity to Thank the Camellia Garden Club, for allowing us to be a part of this Ceremony, Also all the members that were present today, both in person and in spirit, for making this a successful Mission.
