Ride report posted for Oopsie

A group of WWR met at the McHenry Municipal Building in McHenry, for a surprise Welcome Home for our hero. It was a beautiful sunny day. The McHenry PD and Fire Department were there and ready to go.

After  the mission briefing the McHenry Police Squad and McHenry Fire Department Truck lead the bikes and cagers to Nicolas’s home, with sirens blowing.

Needless to say as we neared the Chiodo home the neighborhood was cheering on the procession.

We arrived at the Chiodo home, where Nicolas was taken by surprise by the Squad car, Fire Department and a bunch of WWR members standing in the yard calling his name.

Nicolas came out in full military uniform  to the applause and cheers from the WWR and neighbors. One could certainly tell he was shocked.

After handshakes and hugs Nicolas was taken, via Fire Department truck, to his Welcome Home party at the McHenry VFW Post 4600.

He arrived to see flags flying and Veterans lining the walk way into the building. Each thanked and shook hands with our hero as family and friends cheered.

Inside Nicolas was presented a set of Honor Beads, Challenge Coin and Booklet of Thank You’s from the WWR site. He also was presented a Proclamation from the Mayor’s office and Membership to the VFW and American Legion.

Nicolas comes from a military family. His grandfather a WWII Veteran and father a Viet Nam Veteran. Both were present to watch Nicolas receive the honor he deserved.

Many pictures were taken after which the WWR members then left so Nicolas could enjoy his party.

Thank you to the McHenry Police Department and Fire Department for their always wonderful support. We appreciate all you do for the WWR and our heroes.

Welcome Home Nicolas, Thank you and enjoy your time with your family.
