Ride Report posted for Butch Atkins

SPC Joseph Burns finally made it home.  He was met at the Philadelphia Airport by A Hero’s Welcome and 2 reporters.  After loading up, Joseph and his family traveled to Painters Crossing Shopping Center where he was greated by Bobcat and myself with out scoots.   While the flag line was not massive, we had quality.  While waiting for Joseph, many motorists honked their thanks.

Upon arrival at about 1400, we greeted our hero, his parents and aunt.  I gave Joseph his honor coin and we chatted for about 15 minutes.  We then proceeded to Josephs home on a 21.6 mile journey through horse country, south of Coatesville.

About 4 mile from his home we were greated by East Fallowfield Twp. police who escorted us the rest of the way.  Upon arrival, several of Josephs neighbors, friends and 2 reporters greated us.  Also in attendance were 4 trucks from the Modena Fire Department who were blowing sirens and honking horns upon our arrival.

Our WWR group swelled to 3 when up jumped Country.  He missed the turn to Coatesville so was a little late.

At Josephs home, we visited for about 45 minutes, thanked the police and fire for attending, spoke to the reporters and our Hero.

Joseph is very proud of his service and is already talking about re-upping to become a paratrooper.  I want to thank Bobcat, Country, the E. Fallowfield Twp. police, Modena FD and A Hero’s Welcome for making Josephs homecoming memorable.   Also, a special thanks to Lou for arranging the police and fire presence with a 3 hour notice.

Welcome Home Joseph, God Bless and be safe.
